Who says vacations are just for families or couples? Sometimes, the best way to reset and recharge your batteries is on a trip for one. One of the biggest reasons to go on a solo vacation is that you can do exactly what you want. This means you can enjoy some of the best things to do in Martha’s Vineyard at your leisure. To help you have the best time possible, the Vineyard Square Hotel & Suites team has compiled a list of things to do during your escape.

A Checklist of What to Do on a Solo Edgartown Escape

Going on vacation by yourself doesn’t have to be isolated. As you start researching solo vacation ideas for Martha’s Vineyard, you’ll soon discover some of the most popular things to do are just as enjoyable for one.

Go for a peaceful stroll along the beach. We recommend avoiding popular beaches and opting for places like East Beach, part of the Cape Poge Wildlife Refuge on Chappaquiddick.

If you’re looking for a less sandy place to take a walk, visit some of the preserves that are part of the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank. This includes spots like Felix Neck Prseerve, Sweetened Water, and Ben Toms.

Spend a day popping in and out of local stores. We highly recommend visiting Edgartown Books to stock up on beach reads or browse the incredible works of art at Eisenhauer Gallery.

Bike rentals to check out and explore the island, one of the best things to do in Martha's Vineyard for solo travelers.

Book yourself a day of pampering at Sea Spa Salon at our Edgartown hotel. Their services include massages, facials, and more. They also offer incredible packages that cover you from head to toe.

Check out one of our bike rentals or reserve one from Wheel Happy Bicycle Shop and explore the island on two wheels. There are several bike trails to explore, including a 5.5-mile ride to South Beach or a roughly 16-mile loop from Edgartown to Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven.

Enjoy a cold one at a Martha’s Vineyard brewery. Head to Bad Martha to sip on one of their craft beers while surrounded by colorful flora. Other excellent options are Wash Ashore Beer Company or Offshore Ale Co.

Talk with the local staff at our concierge desk for even more suggestions.
